Hire Movers and Start Packing
Time to Hire Movers & Start Packing!
Now that the inspection is complete, repair negotiations (if applicable) are finalized, and the appraisal has been cleared by underwriting, it’s time to start preparing for your move!
Securing a moving company early is key—reputable movers book up weeks in advance, so get estimates and lock in a moving date as soon as possible.
Important Moving Considerations
If you’re moving into a condo building:
Contact the HOA or property management company to check for:
✅ Required move-in fees
✅ Elevator reservations (if needed)
✅ Any move-in restrictions (such as time limits or designated moving days)
When can you move in?
You cannot move in until after closing—this is when you’ll receive the keys.
We cannot schedule a specific closing time in advance, but we can request:
Morning Closing (AM) – Typically starts around 10:00 AM
Afternoon Closing (PM) – Usually scheduled between 1:00 – 3:00 PM
Plan for the closing to take approximately two hours.
Example: If your closing starts at 10 AM, expect to be done around noon, then allow time to get to your new home before movers arrive.
Exact closing details (time & location) are usually confirmed just a few days before closing.
Packing Tips & Moving Supplies
Wardrobe Boxes for Clothing
Ask your movers to bring wardrobe boxes—these allow you to transfer hanging clothes directly from your closet to the box without removing them from hangers.
Once at your new home, simply take them out and hang them up—a huge time saver!
Where to Get Packing Supplies
Check Craigslist or local community groups for free moving boxes.
Retail options: U-Haul, Uline, and UsedCardboardBoxes offer a variety of packing materials.
Moving with Pets?
Moving can be stressful for animals. Consider having your pets stay with a friend, family member, or at a pet daycare for a day or two while you settle in.
